DALLAS—Sources inside the Dallas Cowboys' locker room report growing unease among the team’s offensive linemen, who suspect the organization only values them for their blocking skills. “I used to think they appreciated my dedication and leadership,” said guard Zack Martin, his voice tinged with doubt. “But now, I’m starting to wonder if they only like me because I can prevent defensive linemen from getting in the backfield.”
The linemen’s concerns escalated after a recent film session focused exclusively on pass protection, with "Not a single mention of valuing our personalities, or even our witty banter during practice," lamented Martin. "It's like they don't even care about our passions outside of football."
Recent first round pick tackle Tyler Guyton, confided that if he’d known the team only cared about how good he was at blocking, he might have forgone the $13.2 million rookie contract he signed and instead completed his degree in multidisciplinary studies at OU. Guyton further admitted, “It’s like the team's interest in me is purely transactional and that hurts. I’m a human being with feelings.”
The situation has prompted the linemen to consider staging a protest at practice by refusing to block until their other contributions are acknowledged. “Maybe then,” Martin added, “they’ll realize we’re more than just 300-pound barricades.”
