DALLAS—Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has announced a dramatic shift in his hiring strategy, inspired by the Lakers’ controversial drafting of LeBron James' son, Bronny.
Jones, who had long elevated his children to prominent positions within the Cowboys, saw the backlash over the Lakers’ nepotistic pick and experienced a sudden epiphany - having a direct bloodline connection might not be the best criterion for hiring top talent.
“All this time, I thought nepotism was a strategy for success,” Jones said, rubbing his temples. “But seeing the Lakers draft Bronny, despite his questionable qualifications, made me realize I’ve been making a huge mistake.”
In an unprecedented move, Jones now plans to prioritize professional credentials over family connections. “It’s clear now that hiring the most qualified people, rather than just whoever I happen to have fathered, is a better strategy,” he said, before adding with a grin, “but I’ll still leave control of the team to my kids.”
The move has been widely applauded as a revolutionary step in modern sports management.
