WASHINGTON—In a spirited segment on ESPN's 'Pardon The Interruption,' hosts Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon engaged in a lively debate over whether the Dallas Cowboys' greatest achievement remains the iconic performance of the 1996 Super Bowl halftime show, following their 12 win and 4 loss, 1995 regular season.
"It was a mesmerizing spectacle that transcended football and entered the realm of cultural phenomenon," argued Kornheiser, reminiscing about the synchronized dance moves and four wardrobe changes by superstar Diana Ross.
Wilbon, however, countered by suggesting that winning actual football games might also be a noteworthy accomplishment. "Let's not forget they were pretty good on the field too," Wilbon quipped, amidst laughter from the imaginary audience in his head.
The debate sparked a wave of nostalgia on social media, with fans sharing memes of Emmitt Smith in sequined gloves and Troy Aikman sporting a glittery cape.
At press time, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was reportedly considering a halftime show reunion tour as part of the team's upcoming season festivities.
