OXNARD, CA—Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs has kicked off the season on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list, and he’s using the downtime to explore his newfound passion: audiobooks and chillaxing.
Still recovering from an ACL tear 10 months ago, Diggs has decided it’s more fun to hang on the sidelines instead of going through intense workouts with coaches yelling. So instead, he’s opted to lounge in a shaded cabana, headphones on, immersing himself primarily in non-fiction.
“Who knew there were so many interesting audiobooks that you can get for free from a library app called Libby and listen to on your phone?” Diggs quipped.
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, while understanding of Diggs’ recovery, was bemused by the unconventional approach. “If Trevon wants to be the first player to complete ‘War and Peace’ while still being paid to get his ACL recovered and help us win some football games,, who are we to stop him?”
At press time, Diggs was overheard recommending teammate Micah Parsons check out Malcolm Gladwell’s latest book, which Diggs just finished listening to at 1.25x speed.
